The Political Class in Crisis
Across the
world the formulaic system designed to free
banking programmes from state control is in
crisis. Everywhere the political class are
despised and distrusted. Everywhere the myth of
government as representational is exposed. The
majority of citizens in the so-called
democracies are against the Afghan war yet each
country in the pretended ‘coalition’ finds its
government backing what it insists is a
necessary war. Both Iraq II and Afghanistan III
have exposed the political class to disgrace.
The democratic system’s adherence to the rule
that the politicians decree the war and the
soldiers do the dying is itself the profound
cause of democracy’s collapse. Cowards should
not direct wars. Anyone wishing to experience
nausea in its most acute form need only listen
to a politician expressing his grief and or
gratitude at the deaths of soldiers. Just as it
seemed that the British parliament could not
plunge deeper into shame along came the
fragmented government of Cameron/Clegg.
Optimistically wanting to argue against anarchy
one supported the Conservatives over and against
the post-Blair ruin of Labour. Anything else, it
seemed, had to offer a respite from social
disintegration.

The Shame of the Politicians
The miserable
American President stepped bouncing to the
microphones with his basketball walk and with
his usual staccato delivery perfect for ticking
off inmates of a remand home and announced that
he had relieved General McChrystal of his command in Afghanistan. In fact the General had resigned. To anyone but an American it was clear that he had meant it to happen. It was no injudicious act but rather a master tactician’s carefully designed plot to disconnect from the failure of the democratic system to wage war not just honourably but rationally. Think for a moment. The man repeatedly tells us, like poor Sarkozy, that he is President, and as such must act thus. On this occasion he announced, as if to convince not just us but himself, that he was Commander-in-Chief. Democratic politicians suffer from the collective delusion that a war can be conducted at long distance, and cannot face that combat troops and grieving parents look on them as despicable cowards. Such is the political animal whatever his party allegiance. From the middle of the hell of Stalingrad the German General conducting the siege sent a devastating telegram to Hitler, safe in his Berlin bunker: “I am here! Where are you?

The Collapse of the Terrorist Dialectic
The present world situation is marked by the
pessimistic unity of all its commentators who confirm that a whole system once
seriously flawed has now collapsed utterly. The dual pillars that upheld world
trade and political order have fallen in on each other. With the disintegration
of the financial system, its instruments and institutions, has come the disgrace
of the despised political class. Hidden behind the false complexities of
macro-economic models and modalities the political class, obedient to their
remit, tried to conceal the reality that the system had collapsed. Their task
was to assure the masses that it could be put together again. It took one simple
financial event and person to expose to the public what had been so brilliantly
veiled from them. One little criminal revealed the true nature of the global
crime. When, overnight, the investment banker Bernie Madoff confessed that his
50 billion dollar investment company had collapsed, it suddenly became clear.

A World of Ungoverned Spaces: Yemen and Somalia
by Parvez Asad Sheikh
The ungoverned spaces of the world are
increasingly becoming focal points around which the terrorist-dialectic pulls
the uneasy attention of the international community. From the political vortex
of Pakistan’s tribal-belt to the anachronism of piracy in the Gulf of Aden,
these geopolitical shatter zones seem to have developed alongside the
post-modern, post- Cold War, geopolitical framework as one of its core concepts.
The fact that these spaces exist, and are coming to the fore in a global
context, shows that this is not merely a scenario involving the bad seeds of a
ghostly terrorist entity sweeping the globe in search of fertile grounds in the
grey areas of the political map but rather a phenomenon of our times that can
serve as a symptom to help understand the greater instability that surrounds us.
If these regions share similar political symptoms then they must suffer from a
similar ailment.

A Cape Town Khutba
Almost a decade ago when I came to South
Africa I saw that while Islam had survived, indeed it had been respected by the
previous regime despite the christian iniquities, it had lost its social
dynamism. The Jumu’a had been robbed of its political authority, I mean the
khutba from the Mimbar. Modern capitalism had everywhere made two actions to put
Islam out of action. Firstly, they doctrinally encouraged new mosques to replace
the Mimbar with a christian pulpit. Secondly, cynically exploiting the need for
an Arabic khutba they had replaced the fresh political discourse of our
tradition with a formula repeated in Arabic and at the same time introducing a
“pre-khutba talk” from a lectern. Thus, not only was the message reduced from
its power-base, the Mimbar, but it robbed the jama’at of the vital ruhani time
of reflection before the Imam is seated. For when the Imam sits the angels shut
their book of records. Thus, both the time of Haqiqa and that of Shari’at have
been taken from us.

The Supreme Name and The Dogs of Kufr and Shirk
The dogs are barking in Malaysia.
Firstly, the Kafirun. The spokesman for the Roman Catholics in Malaysia was, as
to be expected, both rather stupid and rather cunning. Let us remind this
hypocrite, ignorant as he is of his own religion: the language of the Catholic
Church was from its inception under the Roman Empire, Latin. The mass is still
celebrated by the little ex-Nazi Pope in Rome using Latin. However under the
practice of the reformers Latin is now denied to the main body of world
Catholics. So they, poor creatures, have lost their sacred language. Desperate,
and speechless, they have turned to us. However, the Name, the Supreme Name is
not just another name or even a noun. It is the indicator of the Compassionate,
the All-Merciful as revealed in His Pure Book, the Qur’an.
When France effectively ruled Lebanon after World War One, the French Jesuits
took on the task of eliminating Islam and indoctrinating the ‘natives’ to
Catholicism.

The Art of Balancing Poles
by Parvez Asad Sheikh
Two developments in American foreign policy that have occurred
during the course of this year serve as indicators of the world that will emerge
from the rhetorical mist of the Afghanistan-Pakistan War. The first of these is
President Obama’s visit to Beijing in November. The second is his unveiling of
the much awaited, and much delayed, ‘exit strategy’ from the ‘Af-Pak’ imbroglio.
The China visit has shown that America has changed significantly its stance
towards China, recognising its rise as a harbinger of the post-modern,
multi-polar world; as well as its largest source of funding. The New York Times
described the visit as that of ‘a profligate spender coming to pay his respects
to his banker’. The new exit strategy further reveals that the US has recognised
that it needs some closure to the costly and unpopular war in Afghanistan and
the subsequent instability in Pakistan.

Conspiracy Practice
In popular parlance conspiracy theory has been
carefully groomed and defined as a symptom of a private psychosis. Any
suggestion that the outward structuration of nation states, international
organisations and government bureaucracies does NOT govern the world along with
the suggestion that there is a hidden power system linking all events in a
secret scheme of world governance via inaccessible institutions clearly marks a
person as the victim of a paranoid fantasy. What gives that particular madness
its allure is that it disturbingly touches on vital aspects of modern society
that, nevertheless, simply do not add up. It is a precarious step from
recognising that almost all the major American and European banking institutions
are in the hands of jewish families to being convinced that they are bent on
world domination. The first construct is true but the second is fantasy. There
is the little matter of the Chinese – a chill reality that puts paid to the
zionist fantasy.

Ya Zamindar!
by Parvez Asad Sheikh
The Military’s role as arbitrator of official political affairs
in Pakistan is a well-established thesis. However, this Military consolidation
of the country’s overt political structures cannot be wholly understood without
establishing the role played by the ethnic and traditional power balances in the
country that are dominated by the ‘feudal’ families or Zamindars, and to
a lesser extent the industrial families, of the major provinces of the Punjab
and Sindh. This relationship between what one can term ‘Official’ and
‘Unofficial’ power is essential to the study of Pakistan’s current
socio-political climate in a manner that allows for the re-dynamism and
consolidation of this inherently fractious nation state.

Afghanistan in its Greater Context
by Parvez Asad Sheikh II
The Shaykh's website is please to introduce an
important analyst of sub-continent affairs. While the political class in
Pakistan is so dismal - if it were not for the shipwrecked Gordon Brown,
President Zardari could claim to be the worst contemporary political leader in
the world - it must be remembered that the intellectual level of the present
Pakistan generation outshines every other country. It is hoped that our Punjabi
colleague, Parvez Asad Sheikh will contribute regularly to us.

The World Crisis
Everyone knows that the world is in crisis and everyone feels
utterly helpless. We have been told that by the democratic system WE govern. The
reality is that we live not under a tyranny but under a multi-layered system
inaccessible and pre-determined to assure under the slogan of ‘change’ that, as
Lampedusa saw, everything remains the same. From 1945
and the Bretton Woods Diktat a categoric split was imposed between politics and
economics, or as it was presented –
between elected bi-party representational
government of the State and the ‘free’ market of commodities and currencies. The
tax-paying citizens were expected to pay for social services. Nothing was
expected of the financial class. Their profits were for themselves. This
resulted in the political system, living off the taxation of the masses, being
in fact politically under the power of the financial class. Power and wealth are
synonyms – power and parliament are antonyms. The resultant two languages, one
for ‘democracies’ and one for finance, left the whole world plunged into
ignorance. When the money system collapsed – people said, “How did you not
anticipate collapse?”

NATO Soldiers in Search of an
Author
In Islamic Law there is a method required to get at the truth of
events that is both higher and deeper than any other legal system in the world.
This method is itself based on two foundational facts of the Deen. Firstly –
Divine Revelation has laid down the broad parameters of what is forbidden and
permitted, and all that is not forbidden is permitted – the rest enlightened or
darkened by the civic ‘Amal, the mores of time and place. Secondly – the Sunna
of the Messenger, peace and blessings upon him, as the measuring template of the
highest human behaviour, followed in resonance by the ‘Amal of the people of
Madinah, itself the place of the Deen. Legal method itself in turn devolves on
the Imam Daaral-Hijra, down to the record of his applied legal practice in
Madinah as set down by Imam Malik’s own lawyers in al-Mudawwana. To eliminate
the medievalisation of a case-based system at regular historical intervals,
great legalists have condensed the legal inheritance to its primal elements
cutting away the now ‘old-fashioned’ and taking in the ‘modern’.

The Dumb and The Blind
Media have informed us that the President of the USA is going to
deliver a message to the Muslim world. In it he will tell us that the U.S. is
not at war with Islam – or similar ideas. Clarification is important. Let us
start at the beginning. Firstly, the current President of the USA was foisted on
the American people by a sophisticated and structuralist system that cleverly
made the pre-arranged person for the job appear to have come from nowhere, sweep
away the competing candidates, and emerge with a strong mathematical mandate.
The same people had invaded Iraq with only three words – ‘Weapons of Mass
Destruction’. They were false but war was engaged. Leadership of the American
masses only needed one word – ‘Change’. It too was false. Part of the scenario
used to install the financial elite’s man was that part of his achievement was
that he was a great orator and the other part was that he was ‘black’ and the
fulfilment of the Luther-King dream. The truth is that he is a dismal failure as
a speaker.

Papal Bull
The little ex-Hitler Youth, Pope Someone the Somethingth, had
just returned from his African Holy-day. He made one important announcement for
a continent crippled with the doctrines of bankism, poverty, genocide, and
sexual anarchy with its pandemic disease. Africa, he declared, had to cure
itself of witchcraft and the practices of magic. He then celebrated the
primitive magical rite which is the foundation of his claim to fame. Wafer
biscuits were served to the people and goblets of red wine were elevated before
a large cross and drunk by the initiate priests. Only he and priests ritually
initiated by his Cardinals and Bishops were able to perform this magic act. .
For, it was claimed, this bread and wine were transformed, transubstantiated in
their special language, into the flesh and blood of the Lord Jesus who lived two
thousand odd years ago. It was not, as the rebel protestants claimed,
consubstantiation – that is, it both is and is not the flesh and blood of Jesus.

The Failure of Democracy
The British Head of State is not de facto Head
of State. During a period of just over 200 years, firstly, the Parliament
usurped the ultimate authority of governance. Secondly the parties took control
of the country. Belloc correctly pointed out that ‘the front benches’ of both
sides represented government, that is, cabinet plus opposition ‘shadow’ cabinet
ruled in see-saw. This meant that in turn party had ceded to elite rule. Thirdly
that balance of a bi-polar committee was eroded quite swiftly into a transfer
from cabinet rule to prime ministerial authority. Initially the socialist Harold
Wilson and later the monetarist Margaret Thatcher stripped Cabinet of both power
and voice. The end result was achieved by the mentally insecure and
inexperienced Blair. He called himself by the diminutive ‘Tony’ to mask his
authoritarian policy. The socialist party leader had failed in an election
because judged hysterical and untrustworthy. The next leader died of alcoholism.
The third in line was the flashy lawyer, Blair, backed by a formidable and
viciously republican advocate wife.

The End of Democracy
To the great uneducated masses, democracy means universal
franchise free to pick its governing institution divided into two or more
opposing parties. The media instructed technical class also adhere to the creed
that government should not interfere with the market – the market being
corporation-controlled distribution and free markets meaning it is forbidden to
inhibit global spread of corporation over private entity. Wealth is not
governed. Wealth does not spend itself on people. The people pay for everything
and are taxed for everything they buy or drive or fly. Now the wealth
system has collapsed, irretrievably and rationally. It is the people who are
ordered to pay the billions required to restore wealth to the wealthy. This
operation can only be accomplished by persuading the masses that in fact the
operation is a rescue from poverty not a recipe of endebtment. In Visconti’s
film masterpiece of Lampedusa’s novel, ‘The Leopard’, the politics of power are
laid bare. The underlying law of governance is defined: “For things to remain
the same, everything must change.”

The Collapse of the Monetarist Society
The eroding of the coastlines is one of the effects of our
analysed miasma. It is one of the indications of how the present world sickness
is itself a defiance of the Divine Creator, may He be exalted, and the natural
laws on which He has set up existence.
Certainly the present world system has given a smaller and smaller minority a
life which has “seemed long and good to them.” Yet men today live inside a
distorting psychosis. The psychosis of numbers-wealth.
This is the state of the one who thinks modern money exists. So, firstly, the
need to grasp the nature of money, the non-existent nature of ‘money’ itself.
Let us examine the structuration of currency.
The widow’s mite. The cent and the penny. Thus it begins with the poor. The
decimal foundation of paper money. From 100 coins we reach a One-Something paper
note.
From there the ‘notes’ soon spiral from hundreds to thousands. As
the system goes into action it begins to scoop up the world’s intrinsic value
commodities, land and minerals. In order to acquire property and goods to the
maximum, where once a hundred were needed, it then becomes a thousand. In our
own lifetime a rich man was called a millionaire.

Risala
- To a Young Man on the Edge
Ya Walad – with these words our great scholars and Awliya have
started their letters of counsel and guidance on the path of our sublime Deen.
They were in every case words on the future life of the youth so that he should
achieve maturity, and strengthen the Muslim community not only by good actions
in their service but by obeying the command to set up a family, treating both
the wife and later the children of the next generation with that wisdom and
compassion that would guarantee that the Deen of Islam would flourish as
promised by the Merciful Lord, and spread in increase and nobility. Ya Walad – today this does not happen. Today the Muslim youth is
living in such a chaos, in such a disaster zone that he not only is frankly
ignorant of the Deen but also ignorant about life. In the Qur’an, which, I can
assure you, you have never been taught, Allah, glory be to Him, addresses the
kuffar – and warns them: and the muminun – and guides them: and mankind itself,
the human race – both guiding and warning them.
